1 ) Because the writer of this song wants to pass the message that we are supposed to wake up and react to what the government is doing behind our backs.
2) King, Martin Luther, Jr. (1929-1968), American clergyman and Nobel laureate, one of the principal leaders of the American civil rights movement and a prominent advocate of non-violent resistance to racial oppression.
3) He led the historic March on Washington, August 28, 1963, where he delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech. The following day King was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee. In 1964 King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
4) The Americans were fighting witht the South Vietnamese against North Vietnam.
5) Malcolm X (1925-1965), black American leader, born in Omaha, Nebraska, as Malcolm Little. In 1946 he was sentenced to prison for burglary. While in prison, Malcolm became interested in the teachings of Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Black Muslims, also called the Nation of Islam. When Malcolm was released in 1952, he joined a Black Muslim temple in Detroit, and took the name Malcolm X .In 1964, Malcolm broke with the Nation of Islam and formed a secular black nationalist group, the Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU).
6) On February 21, 1965, while addressing an OAAU rally in New York, Malcolm was assassinated by men allegedly connected with the Black Muslims.
7) Because in the Matrix movie all the peole were slaves and they didn’t know it, so they couldn’t wake up.
8) It means that if you don’t wake up soon you’re gonna bear the consequences.
